Thank you for your interest in contributing to Bloviation Nation. All of our reviews are user-generated, meaning anyone can contribute provided that they adhere to our guidelines.

General Guidelines

Reviewers may only contribute their own work. Reviews may be posted anonymously or under a pseudonym at the reviewer’s request, but should be submitted under the reviewer’s actual name.

Reviewers will disclose potential conflicts of interest as they arise. Reviewers may not be compensated in exchange for writing a review. Bloviation Nation will not publish reviews written by the employees, owners, manufacturers or vendors of the entity being reviewed.

Reviewers will submit information that is accurate to the best of their knowledge. All factual information contained in a review should be independently verifiable.

Reviewers will give each entry an overall grade on a 10-point scale, with 1 the worst possible score available and 10 the best possible score available. Grades may be rounded to the nearest quarter-point.

Reviewers are encouraged, but not required, to contribute Fact File information for each review.

Reviews will be edited for spelling, grammar and style. Reviews will be posted or withheld at the editors’ discretion.

Fact File Guidelines

The Fact File is a neutral information resource which accompanies each entity reviewed at Bloviation Nation. Each Fact File will include, if applicable and available, the following information:

For restaurants: Name, photo, phone number, official Web site, street address with Mapquest link, type of cuisine served, price range, hours of operation, forms of payment accepted and a brief overview.

For retailers: Name, photo, phone number, official Web site, street address with Mapquest link, type of products sold, hours of operation and a brief overview.

For events: Name, photo, phone number, official Web site, venue name and street address with Mapquest link, type of event, cost of admission, event hours and a brief overview.

For books: Title, author, photo, official Web site, genre, page count, release date, availability, price and a brief overview.

For movies: Title, photo, official Web site, director, screenwriter, lead actors, genre, running time, release date, availability, price and a brief overview.

For music: Title, artist, photo, official Web site, genre, length, release date, availability, price and a brief overview.

Restaurant Guidelines

To maximize helpfulness to readers, we ask that all restaurant reviews touch upon the following: food (taste, variety, portion size, value), ambience (décor, crowd size, building space) and service (promptness, server attitude, wait time).

Retailer Guidelines

To maximize helpfulness to readers, we ask that all retailer reviews touch upon the following: products (selection, quality, value), layout (ease of access, aisle space) and customer service (attitude, efficiency, wait time).

Call For Editors

In addition to reviewers, Bloviation Nation is currently seeking editors to edit reviews, draft and revise guidelines and policies and help shape the overall direction of the site. Editors may specialize in a particular category of reviews or may serve at-large. No professional experience is required.
